Netbooks - More SaaS for the B-LongTail

Since everyone is looking to Net the long-tail of business aka SMBs, old warriors are not going to sit back and watch. Founded by Ridgely Evers, creator of QuickBooks at Inuit, Netbooks is now offering SaaS based service to manage sales, customer relationships, vendor relationships, production, inventory, shipping and bookkeeping. And all this squarely targeted at SMB users.
Today the 5 year old startup announced that it has raised $9 million in funding for it’s Series A round. The investment was led by CMEA Ventures and joined by Integral Capital and a group of individuals for a total of $6.9 million. The startup also secured $2 million line of credit from Square 1 Bank.
Netbooks is being offered at a cheap price point of $200/month for up to 5 users with additional user seats costing $20/month. Couple of smart offerings from Netbooks include free access to your bookkeeper and accountant, and being able to stick to the same subscription price you started at, even if the subscription price for NetBooks goes up. And not to forget, if pricing comes down, you also get to save. Haven’t seen many startups do that lately.
