GCN- delivers personalization to Grocery Shopping

By Vivek | August 30th, 2007 at 12:39 pm ET

With audio+video markets getting saturated with more than what we can consumer Personalization and recommendation options, entrepreneurs are hitting new market areas now. Early today Grocery Shopping Network disclosed that it has raised close to $7 million in funding. The funding round was led by VantagePoint Venture Partners.

GSN enabled personalization comes via the retailers utilizing the proprietary technology integrated into their online shopping sites. Once setup, consumers will “get to review all items on sale,  access and save recipes for the items they plan to purchase, and utilize the many discount offers made available by brand manufacturers.”

While the application of personalization might be new to this space, but who really does grocery shopping online? With all the promises of online e-commerce reaching out to all parts of our shopping list having come and gone in the past 10 years, and all along never really touched grocery side of things ’cause of obvious reasons, it makes me doubt about their strategy. As compared to this, GlobalRoads is heading in a much more lucrative direction.
