Text2store widgetizes coupons

Mobile coupon service startup Text2store is looking to move on to higher ground quickly. The startup, which had launched early this year, is now launching a widget that lets users add local deals and bargains widget to blog/site/MySpace page and in turn take a little cut off the profit.

To get started with the service, site owners can add 100 deals and coupons from any number of categories of products(from 50 retailers) they like, to the Deal Badge. After that, just grab the embed code and you are good to go. Any visitors coming on your website, can forward these deals to their cell phone and later use at the retailer’s website or local store.

As for site owners making bucks from the service, Text2store is branding the service as an affiliate sales program built around widget technology. Text2store will collect 35 cents per user subscribing to any of the alerts. Out of this, 75 % of will go to Text2store and 25% to the Deal Badge Owner.

Now that is a really really small non-recurring payout to drive in any users. I don’t see viral uptake happening for the widget and subscription happening. Besides that, since Text2store serves local coupons, large number of bigger blogs are not going to be interested in adding the widget since the widgets are not targeted towards a global user base. Still, a partnership with Outside.in(review) can work right.
