Get Basic With Smplr Startpage

Startpages are exciting new tools that allow users to organize their data, check their email, instant message, and, in short, do just about anything from one place. But some people like things simple, and I’m one of them. Smplr makes startpages simple, and it does so in a creative way.
Unlike most startpages, smplr does not load all of your personalized data when you open the page. Instead, it users triggers, small commands, to present data to the user. This is much like the excellent and useful launchy software for windows (which I highly recommend). For example, instead of loading a weather widget to see your weather, you simply enter w: followed by your zipcode and press enter. Smplr then loads a popular weather news website with your local forecast. You can search google, wikipedia, visit any webpage, and more, all from smplrs, well, simple interface.
If you still want to personalize your homepage, smplr has a small selection of beautiful wallpapers to choose from. Smplr also has a mac osx widget available.

Except it only works properly if you’re American. Take weather - I’m in Canada, yet it won’t accept postal codes. Nice idea, but until they open up the features to the rest of the world…
