Twitter gets People Search

Long expected feature is finally live at Twitter - People Search. Now, instead of looking at those tiny images and guessing if you really want to follow the person, just search for the name. As you can expect, results come with minimal content to cut down on noise. All you get is the username, name, recent post, and link to follow. Only catch is that you need to login to search for people.
Looking at the bigger picture, Twitter People Search very effectively completes with the likes of Spock(review), Zoominfo, and more. The results contain much more relevant, personal, and obviously accurate information than what pure people search engines can deliver via scraping the web. I am already following more people

Incidentally we just launched a twitter search app a few days prior, which also includes people search. Twitter’s own people search has of course a headstart and also includes more people as we can only track active posters. But we also offer search in the public updates via the Twitter API, for which there is currently no other attractive solution.

[…] Late night yesterday while trying out the Twitter Gmail Address book import, I was easily able to locate 50 or so contacts from 400+ in my address book already Twittering out there. Much better way to find people as compared to search(review). […]
