Now search for that 50" LCD TV at Krillion

Krillion, the local big tag product search engine that I have written about before, today announced that it has enabled search another big product category - Televisions. Just as the startup did with the home appliances earlier, it has now made available 250,000,000 new, uniquely relevant local search pages featuring comprehensive product, location and pricing information for HDTV’s, Flat Panel, LCD and Plasma televisions.
For those wondering - do we need another local search engine? - I think Krillion is the place to search for things you can buy “only” locally. And these are the items like Fridge, Washer dryer, and now TVs, which obviously most of us are not going to buy online. Being able to know the availability and pricing of the appliance at to the store nearest to your location is a fundamental problem that most of the comparison shopping engines don’t solve.
If you look at Krillion, the search engine includes searchable data from 10 major U.S. retailers, such as Best Buy, Circuit City, Wal-Mart, Radio Shack and others, which together represent 80% of the total U.S. television market retail share. And the brand coverage list for TVs is also pretty comprehensive television that includes 50 leading manufacturers like Panasonic, Samsung, and Sony.
Flipping from the consumer side of the business to the money making side, Krillion also announced that Panasonic has joined as an advertising partner for the television category. Home Depot has been another big name advertiser at Krillion. Earlier last year the Mountain View based startup had raised slightly more than $3 million in funding from Hummer Winblad Venture Partners

[…] I think a similar mashup with Krillion would also make sense. Tags: […]

I bought this Toshiba Regza 42%u2033 LCD television and it has been nothing but problems. The sound is horrible and there is a 1.5%u2033 vertical discoloration on the screen from top to bottom. Toshiba%u2019s local repair shop in Minneapolis ( Alex audio video ) has had it for going on three weeks and has no idea if or when it can be repaired. I am told it can take up to four months. To add insult to injury, the people at Toshiba are belligerent and unsympathetic.
