Techrigy - taming the social beast in Enterprise space

In the difference of few years, similar questions are getting asked once again that came forth when companies hopped onto email as the communication protocol. This time around the protocol has changed and the newer apps in question are the social tools - blogs and wikis - and the question is - How do we know what employees are talking outside of the company? Where exactly are they unknowingly giving out proprietary corporate information? Is there any way to track the talk? Can we get some analytics on the social talk?

Techrigy, the Rochester, NY based startup, is getting ready to answer these questions for the corporate America. With the upcoming slated launch of their core product Social Media Manager( aka SM2), the startup will offer a suite of social media management products that will reduce the risk that enterprises face when using social media, and would also enable organizations to know what is being said about them in the blogosphere.

Product concept is pretty straightforward. SM2 would scan through a company’s intranet servers to find social media running internally, as well as the Internet externally to find mentions of the company on blogs or wikis. Rule and policy engine are the obvious parts of the product. Once everything is in place, SM2 will notify in real time of policy violations that represent organizational risks.

As for the actual product launch, SM2 goes into beta mode this week. The product is supposed to have both behind the firewall and hosted components. I am not too sure about the pricing as of now. Most likely billing would be based on the number of searche queries customers can perform on partner sites.
