FanBash - Sports UGC with Recommendations

FanBash, the Cincinnati, Ohio based startup that I had written about last week has launched it’s sports site that is dreaming to get it’s 1% of UGC’ billion dollar pie. Core concept is that FanBash allows sports fans to pose topics and questions and in response to that, the community participates, ranks, comments…. FanBash calls this end-content as — user generated content in list form which can take the form of Who is your favorite NBA team? or Best modern day pitcher or Worst Sports Analyst…
You can pretty much guess what the platform will offer in terms of features. So where is the value addition? Ah the one and only - recommendations. As FanBash team explains to it’s users, they are “working in the background to link everything up. Whatever topic your on, it’ll show you related ones. Keyed in on a particular response” So, as you browse through the site, you will get related topics, pictures, videos (coming soon), and wikis. Great idea, but as always the winning loop will be - content drives users, users tryout recommendations, and if relevancy is high enough, FanBash gets recommended to buddies. Let’s see FanBash has the escape velocity to get through.
