Missing pieces of Yahoo Adsense

By Vivek | June 8th, 2007 at 02:42 pm ET

I am not an advertising pro, but all the propaganda that Yahoo did in the recent past about catching up with Google Adsense would for sure have made lot of SMBs signup for the advertising solution. But Yahoo always keeps coming up with updates disclosed quietly that makes me really doubt the effectiveness of their search and publisher advertising solution. Couple of days back Yahoo had launched a new pricing model which would enhance the quality of clicks received, and potentially reduce the cost and increase the value of traffic for it’s advertisers. So instead of charging the same for traffic from all web sites within it’s distribution network, Yahoo has now started looking at quality of click-throughs to value some clicks lower than the standard rate. While the idea is great, only problem is that Google has been offering this kind of quality based pricing feature for a while. Although Yahoo never promised that it offered quality-based pricing before, but I bet most of the advertisers at Yahoo would have never know either. Not sure how many more features are missing at Yahoo as compared to Google that most of the un-informed advertisers don’t know about.
