Video Sharing effect issss reallly tricking down to classifieds. Virginia based RealPeopleRealStuff(RPRS) is yet another startup offering a free video classifieds site that allows users to star in their own commercials to sell their stuff or their services. iMoondo was the first startup I had written about last week trying to do similar stuff for Boston area.
RPRS is claiming that videos would allow the buyer to get to know the sellers, and allows sellers to bring their product or service to life in a way that photos and text simply can’t. And all the time you are having fun, you can be making money. So is the video classifieds idea sinking into my head. I think bit-by-bit.
RPRS is following CraigsList’s footsteps - Free platform and charge only employers and realtors to place their ads. As far as the real transactions are concerned, they are handled privately between the buyers and the sellers — similar to newspaper classifieds or Craigslist. So if you posted a video commercial selling your car, an interested buyer would email you for details, and you would then arrange that transaction directly with the buyer. And just as in Craigslist, when you post an ad, your email address will remain confidential. Buyers will use a “blind” email address we provide. There is more to the site than what I can put in words.
Still the market is 2 way street. If they can get enough of buyers and sellers on-board, YouTube’s original dream can get accomplished.

There’s another cool video classifieds site out there now, check out www.listasaurus.com! You can post ads like stuff for sale, free stuff, real estate, etc. and they also have a business directory. one nice thing is you don’t HAVE to include video, but you can. and even nicer…they PAY you to list your ads.

As everyone knows by now, video is very exciting. I think in the next few years people will discover that video is appropriate for certain areas of the consumer market, right now it seems like everyone wants to use video for everything. I think the small business arena will benefit the most from video which is pretty much the thesis behind Jippidy.com
