Synthasite launches AJAX based Web Publishing Platform

After a long time under development, South Africa based startup Synthasite has launched it’s AJAX based Web Publishing Platform. I had written about this upcoming launch couple of months back when I reported about incuBeta raising $3.7m in funding. incuBeta is the parent company of Synthasite.
Synthasite is projecting it’s app as an DIY browser based AJAX mashup construction engine. Ha! Lot of keywords in there. Don’t get bothered by the buzzwords since you can get started really quickly as you can visually assemble your website using templates, components, widgets and services from the Synthasite superstore. Among other features, Synthasite offers/will_offer integration with 3rd party CMS systems, access to 3rd party components that you will be available to buy, sell your own templates and components via the superstore, and not to mention - free hosting either on Synthasite or on your own domain via modifying the CNAME records. While it is too early to say how well the platform will perform and get traction with the development community, I like the fact that the startup has laid out it’s roadmap in open that make the migration decision easier.
Sitekreator is another startup that i have written about operating in the same space. Besides that Weebly’s offering also intersects in the features offered.
And yes, Synthasite is number 3 in the stealth startup quiz I had put up couple of weeks back
