You can now find your doc at FindYourDoc!

By Vivek | May 29th, 2007 at 02:03 pm ET

Despite all the countless search sessions at Google and elsewhere everyday, one search for which I still depend on my contacts and people I know is - Search for a Doctor. I don’t think I have ever used online search in this case except maybe for searching for an optometrist. Why? Can’t really pinpoint the reason, but more then likely, no one recommended online search for going about searching for a doctor. But, FindYourDoc.com from MedBillManager wants to change my search mechanism. Launched over the last weekend, FindYourDoc offers a simple search interface from where you can search for a doctor among the 697,931 doctor listings or for a hospital from the 6,695 hospital listings. You can search via name, place, specialty, or any combination of the three. Any search session brings up list of doctors and hospitals with their address, phone number, and primary specialty.

Having launched that in open, MedBillManager is planning to quickly build up on the data set by adding host of new features from the social end to enabling reuse of data to make the user experience much more comprehensive. Some of the features under works include ability to add provider experience, get procedure cost data, tagging, and enabling providers to update their information directly or via a web-service one the API is out. I think once the updated feature set is launched FindYourDoc would definitely be a good place to lookup especially when the site has a name that is not memory intensive operation, unlike the ones from the missing “e” sequel.

Thanks sooooooooooo much for picking up on our efforts! Really appreciate the post. Also, now if you click on the doctor’s name - we’ve got where the doctor went to school, where they did their residency, year graduated, gender, primary and secondary certifications…. so much more is coming and we really would like feedback… we’ll be adding Dentist and chiropractors shortly. Also, internally at FYD we’re wondering if you’d like to be able to find a doc by searching on your health issue and seeing resulting physicians that treat that condition… thoughts?

    Again thanks!

[…] StartupSquad does an unexpected yet appreciated review of our physician data tool (FindYourDoc), which we made available last weekend. Yeah, it’s very simple and there’s a lot more coming, but hey… we just being transparent and health2.0-ish (hat tip to Dr. Scott Shreeve) […]

[…] change:healthcare’s FindYourDoc is named as one of KillerStartups May 2007 Hot Start-up… gosh, we’re blushing! Also, we’re linked to by CenterNetworks [a blog that has some great content like KillerStartups] and it all originated with our friends at StartupSquad who have been terrific and who also did a great and yet unexpected review […]

[…] These days healthcare is getting all the attention it never got. From big to small, including Google, RevolutionHealth, MedBillManager(review)….., everyone is pitching-in with it’s own offering. Another startup added to that list is OutOfPocket.com. OutOfPocket is kinda of social networking mashed up with healthcare search. […]
