Blue Sky Factory acquires RSSFwd

Over the past week online marketing services provider Blue Sky Factory announced that it has acquired 3 year old startup RSSFwd. As expected, financial details about the deal have not been disclosed. The startup had been providing RSS to email technology to more then 30,000 active and unique users. RSSFwd had been polling 32,000 unique RSS feeds, deploying 4 million emails per month worldwide. Blue Sky is planning to integrated features from the service into its web-based email marketing solution, Publicaster.
I have been using the service just for couple of feeds and it seems to work as expected. In some ways the service is similar to what is being offered by ZapTxt except for the missing piece of notifications to IM clients. As indicative from the subscription numbers, the service does not appeal to large number of users who might be better of using FeedBurner’s Email service or FeedBlitz to receive a single consolidated email per day.
This is the second acquisition in the RSS space in one week. Last week I had written about IMified’s buyout of FeedCrier.
