IMified buys RSS alerts on IM service - FeedCrier

By Vivek | May 14th, 2007 at 10:36 pm ET

IMified, the service that lets you blog, make notes,….from your IM today announced that it has acquired FeedCrier. FeedCrier was launched last year by Adam Kalsey who was the founder and former CTO of Pheedo, a FeedBurner competitor.

FeedCrier delivers RSS feeds over instant messaging platforms. Currently FeedCrier supports AIM, MSN, GTalk/Jabber and comes in 2 versions - Free(ad supported), and Pro($4/month). However this space is not free from competition with a strong offering from ZapTxt, and bit of a funky service from China based Anothr.

IMified has had it’s fare share of trouble in keeping the service up and running on all IM fronts - specifically MSN. Currently Yahoo integration seems to be under works, while the app is able to talk with AIM, MSN, and GTalk/Jabber. Among other things, the buyout is supposed utilize FeedCrier’s IM experience to boost the uptime of IMified service. As anyone might expect, there is lot of excited talk about future plans in the mobile and location based spaces. Would see how that one goes.

This is good news. Feedcrier type services are going to be big in the future. They are huge for me now. Congrats to Adam.
