Building and enabling solutions for SMBs is a very challenging area to work on. The type of technology provided, complexity to learn, and resources to maintain an application are just some of the bigger concerns for a small company. Few companies have been successful at that while those who die fighting, no one wants to talk to them. One of the biggest success case - Salesforce delivering a no-brainer CRM to SMBs that effectively sent Siebel reeling before getting bought by Oracle.
While SiteKreator is no Salesforce, it attacks a similar domain of businesses with it’s online site creation tool and in fact delivers well built solution. Personally I had not tried SiteKreator till few days back but was surprised at the capabilities of the platform after a demo session with SiteKreator CEO, Ivaylo Lenkov. SiteKreator enables anyone of build a site from scratch with the need to write a single line of code. No need to install and maintain a CMS like Drupal or Joomla either. SiteKreator claims you can build and launch a website with 30 minutes, which i think can be true statement. Some of the facts to consider while trying to make a decision - 1.2Mil stock images, 2,000 site layouts, 500 navigation systems and 80 font styles - available when you start working on your site. All for a max price of $39.95/month(they also have a free version). Don’t think you can beat that.
Today SiteKreator is launching a new release of the platform branded as Aurora. The new release would offer the design intelligence around display options delivering a consistent look to the sites created. Big changes are also being rolled out on the main navigation panel side of things that now gives options for modifying style, position and layout. Users can also create section-specific navigation panels that will appear only on on the selected pages in the site. In other words, you can enable associate specific navigation panels to appear only on certain pages. That is a big customization boost to site owners, making their sites hyper-extensible.
SiteKreator has also made changes to the layout management options that now has “sections” to group related information in vertical or horizontal blocks or have them available as tabs or collapsible sections. SiteKreator has also added support for blogging(you can import your Wordpress blog), discussion forums, and mailing groups. For the widget lovers, you can bring those in too.
What’s missing is support to build and run an e-commerce site. Well, that feature is slated to be out with the release 3.0 of SiteKreator.
