Jajah gets big money; Is call-back the way of life?

I had never expected call-back calling to get big. To me it never sounded as the right way to call. Apparently to lot of other people it does. The reason being, till the time it gets the 2 ends connected and would help save money, people are going to use it. Not for calling 911, but for everything else. And now, Intel is newest to recognize the idea with an investment of $20 million in Jajah, the call-back technology based service provider. That’s Series C investment round for Jajah, that had earlier raised $8 million from the likes of Sequoia Capital. As part of the investment Jajah has done a marketing arrangement with Intel that will give the startup access to Intel OEMs, as well as their
thousands of dealers around the world. A call to Jajah would put things in a clearer perspective.
Jajah is along with Rebtel on this, both the startups content playing in the middle ground, while startups like Fring, Barablu, Truphone, and Nimbuzz fight out the battle on the mVoIP space. Was this the right strategy to follow? In hindsight, the plan has been executed to perfection. Both the startups now have established userbase which would act as the perfect launchpad for their nextgen services. Still a lot will depend on how they build on their lead.

I agree with you that it seems that they did the right thing, which also is good PR for the VoIP industry in general coming off the Vonage fiasco.
Nextgen VoiP (VOICE 2.0) still have a lot to offer. Though I have other concerns which I raised in my post http://flatplanetphone.com/wordpress/?p=177
