Exclusive: BlogBackupOnline - End of Script Backups

BlogBackupOnline is finally going to put end to no blog backups for few and script based backups for others. Launching today, BlogBackupOnline takes cares of backing-up your blog automatically without the need for you to code or schedule or FTP any files from the server. All you need to do is give your blog URL, and the web service automatically starts backing up content from the current time onwards while also taking care of the blog posts published till date. The life saver startup based out of Rochester, NY, is led by Aaron Newman, who has previously founded Application Security Inc that provides security and compliance efforts in the enterprise database space. While working as the CTO at Application Security, Aaron came up with an idea for consumer media space that has real ground to stand on and founded Techrigy, the company behind BlogBackupOnline.
Actual plan for BlogBackupOnline goes beyond the standard backup offering. BlogBackupOnline is complete solution that offers backup scheduling capability, data export option, and backup alerts. But the best feature of all is the ability to easily migrate the blog to a new platform. This comes handy blog owners who wanted to move from Wordpress to SixApart or Six Apart to LiveSpaces or one of these combinations without going out hunting for a migration script that might not work as expected. The part I like about the service is that I never had to give out my database or blog login/password. BlogBackupOnline did whatever it had to do(crawl, scrape) to get my content backed up. Only thing missing right now is photos and videos, which should be part of the process in another month or so.
Give Techrigy couple of more months, the startup will be backing up more of your online content besides the blogs. I don’t want to put down in words what Techrigy is upto, but can very well guess the usual suspects. As for where your backedup content ends up, Techrigy will be providing more options like backup to S3 or other online services.
While I was writing this post, BlogBackupOnline already got all my blog backed up. Took about an hour for the initial full backup. Would be a minute everyday from now on.

BlogBackupOnline should be banned! A couple of days ago some idiot was about to sell my blog%u2019s database on Digital Point, thanks to this service. You can backup anyone%u2019s blog without their permission, and restore the data anywhere (on any blog) you want. One could make a clone of this blog in just 5 minutes! So, you still think this is good service?
