Google Checkout baits come standard in UK

As I had written last night, Google has officially gone live with it’s Checkout service in UK. The UK launch comes with pretty much same freebies as in US, where merchants can process their Google Checkout sales for free until 2008. After that date, Adwords + Checkout part kicks in where merchants spending £1 on AdWords each month, can process £10 in sales/month for free. Similar deal has been going on in US since last year.

Even the buyers get something to chew on with £10 off on all orders over £30. Not sure when this deals.

On the other hand, PayPal has yet to announce any offerings to counter Google’s moves. Last time PayPal showed any interest in attracting new customers via promotions was around last year’s shopping season with it’s rebates and free shipping incentives. Since than not much. One big splash that PayPal did make was by announcing that they have 35 million accounts in Europe. That is lot of catching to do for Google.
