Stage6 with Karmic channels and more smart ideas

I haven’t really been following Divx’s video sharing site Stage6 so missed on their upgrade that happened over the past weekend. But here we are right on it. As Divx itself says, this was not that of a biggie release. Still I found some parts interesting enough features to write about. Divx upgraded the Channel owner dashboard where owners can now organize their videos into groups, add videos from other channels into their ‘library’. Now the real deal is that not everyone can create a channel at Stage6. Only people who earn certain amount of karma get the access to create channels. As expected, you can earn karma by being nice in the community. Nice idea. I am not sure how many other video sharing sites have implemented this feature. This small change can easily tackle the problem of test channels that are created by every new user for sure.

Besides the above, Stage6 added the ability to search via tags and tag combinations. As for users who upload new videos, they now get an option to select thumbnail that goes with their video. Again a nice feature that most of the other sites don’t do.
