So the guys in the mobile cellular world have invented this small game. There will be 4 sales guys(Verizon, Cingular, Sprint, T-mobile). Yeah I want to call them sales ’cause that is the only thing they do right. As always one of them has to be un-attentive(lets say Sprint). We call him sloppy. And others are sharp(whoever left). We call them sharpies. True to their name sharpies snatch a big share sloppy’s market. Sloppy has got to do something. think think think hmm hmm hmm. Okay. Sloppy starts throwing freebies on one side and upping the price on other. This gets the sharpies attention who otherwise won’t give a dime to anyone but now are forced take on the balancing act. And the cycle continues.
Sounds like a familiar story? Oh yeah! Till few days back it was the rising cost of text messaging, which culminated with Verizon upping the per SMS charge to 15 cents for no apparent reason. And now we have 30-day Test Drive from Verizon during which customers can opt to leave the carrier and essentially have Verizon Wireless foot their usage bill. All this just in response to Sprint’s recent “Power-up” campaign launched recently and 30-day trial started few months back.
