Dailymotion beta with Related Videos and more

While Youtube is busy cutting out content deals and getting sued some of its biggest competitors are upgrading their infrastructure and sites to steal some of its crowd. And one of those competitors is Dailymotion that today launched the beta version of its video sharing platform that brings in some much need enhancements.

With the new release Dailymotion is moving over to a wider page width to fit more content and also making changes to UI for better user experience. Some of the changes have taken place at the back-end that will enable faster search on the site. Dailymotion is now putting heavy focus on providing related videos. Related video feature was there before but limited in functionality. Dailymotion now shows 6 related videos with the additional ability to pullup other videos from the user without navigating away from the page. Again Youtube already had this feature for quite sometime now.

Group and profile page layouts also got a refresh with Dailymotion users getting an option to add a featured video to their profile. Each group page has got a new VideoRoll option that puts recent most 5 videos into a widget that you can put on your blog/site. KickApps had launched a similar widget couple of weeks back.

As I had written before Dailymotion has been getting lot of traction with its users and its traffic graph shows a upward curve at all the free stats sites. Dailymotion can very well keep the momentum going with the new features.
