Sprint+Nokia in Texas; NBC on MobiTV; Quintura Kids re-launched

By Vivek Puri

Sprint+Nokia: Sprint has signed up Nokia to build WiMAX infrastructure for its mobile WiMAX network rollout in Texas. Among other things Nokia will be setting up WiMAX base stations in four Texas cities -Dallas and Fort Worth. Conflicting reports are emerging as to when the service will go live. Time ranges I came across till now – First half of 2008 to end of 2008. Sprint has plans to launch Initial service in Chicago, Baltimore, and Washington, D.C., by the end of 2007. All this adds upto is more pressure for Clearwire to perform whose stock has now sagged to $20.76.

MobiTV+NBC: While Viacom is wasting its energy in tackling Google, NBC is continuing with the deals. Yesterday it was NBC on VMIX, and today NBC hooked up with MobiTV. MobiTV subscribers will be able to access prime-time shows from NBC and select content from cable networks Bravo, Sci Fi, USA, Telemundo and mun2. NBC will also be offering 24-hour video-on-demand rentals of select prime-time. [via]

Quintura Kids: Yakov at Quintura informed me that they did a re-launch of their Kids search engine. Updates include more detailed kids’ tag cloud, higher speed and better relevancy of search results. Can’t say much about each of these updates.
