Israel based questions-answer based knowledge sharing site Yedda has raised $2.5 million in funding. The financing round was led by Genesis Partners and also participated by few private investors.
Yedda is trying to operate in a market dominated by Yahoo Answers. Yedda counters Yahoo by going beyond the standard offering by enabling personalization of service through the use of semantic search engine. As you keep using the service the sematic engine will start driving very specific questions and answers towards you. Personally i have yet to use the service and analyze how well the service matches up questions according to my profile. Besides this I also like the fact that you don’t really have to looking out for new questions contantly on the site. Instead the service can reach you via email and IM. Previously i had written about another service Illumio that enables users to be contacted in a desktop based application depending upon your identified interests.
