Wiki startup Near-Time scores $2.5 million

3 year old North Carolina based startup Near-Time claims that it has secured $2.5 million in funding from Wakefield Partners. Near-time provides a combination of productivity tools that includes Wiki based editing, Calendar, and File management.
However as we know this area has seen one of the most intense competition recently. Atlassian, CentralDesktop, JotSpot, and SocialText are just few of the best in this area. Near-Time has a lot of catching up to do in terms of the technology it should develop with fewer number of people. Just look at CentralDesktop which is a team of only 2 people. On the Near-Time end, they already have 17 people and plans to add more. I am not sure where they will end-up in another year at this high cash-burn rate.
