Dailymotion gets ahead of Metacafe

Video sharing upstart Dailymotion today released few of its user base stats for the month of December and I think they are pretty impressive: 22 million unique users, 782 million pages viewed, 2.5 million subscribers, a 40% monthly overall growth.
Quick check on Alexa* and Compete showed that Dailymotion is indeed gaining ground over Metacafe. Alexa shows Dailymotion slightly ahead of Metacafe on all 3 counts - Reach, Rank, and Page Views. From the stats given by Compete.com, Dailymotion had crossed Metacafe in the number of unique visits in December.
However growth rate for both of them is nothing in comparison Youtube, which shows only an ever increasing curve on Alexa and Compete.
An interesting thing I noticed when searching for Metacafe on Google- Under the main result, one of the sub results you will get for Metacafe is — sex Videos - www.metacafe.com/tags/sex/. Guys get this thing fixed. I hope this is not what you want to be known for.

* Okay I know Alexa had it’s fair share issues lately, but I think if you run any comparisons for high ranked sites, results should be pretty much evened out. However if the site is putting Alexa button on it’s site, it is a different story.
