Last week I had written about WebEx launching its plugin for Yahoo IM and previously written about the emerging developments in webconferencing. Now Unyte has quickly come up with its own plugin for Yahoo IM that beats the WebEx plugin hands-down.
Unlike the WebEx plugin where you can share only 1 page web page, Unyte lets to share your entire desktop. Install the plugin from Yahoo plugin gallery and you can quickly add an entirely new dimension to your conversation. Being able to perform Voice chat + Application sharing + send and receive file for FREE from the same application/tool is the Web20 way of communication.
I am not sure when Google will be launching its Widgets engine for GTalk. Such an engine can prove pretty useful, as in the case of Yahoo, till Google builds its own conferencing tool.
Just to add on the web-conferencing note, Yugma is another startup, launched last week, offering free entry level desktop-application services.
Note: Yahoo plugin install from Firefox doesn’t seem to work right for me. Since been using IE 7.
Soapbox today launched a new integration feature that lets you watch video with your friends using Windows Live Messenger in real-time. So instead of sending out URL, and viewing in a browser, you can do that in your browser window. I think similar plugins for Yahoo IM already exist that let you view videos from Youtube and other related sites.
Earlier the Soapbox team had launched widget/gadget to enable display of Soapbox videos on Live.com or Windows Live Spaces.

[...] CrossLoop’s free remote access and sharing application should soon make it difficult for Citrix’s GoToMyPc/GoToAssist or Netopia’s Timbuktu to charge for their entry level services. CrossLoop is free, GoToMyPc costs $19.95/mo, and Timbuktu Pro Twin-pack costs $159.95. I think it is matter of time before the personal use market goes to CrossLoop. You can check my earlier post about newer webconferencing softwares like Unyte which are also providing their services for free as compared to paid ones from WebEx or GotoMeeting. [...]
