According to early reports, Tel Aviv based Dapper has received over $1 million in funding from its initial investors Accel Partners. Dapper was founded by Eran Shir and Jon Aizen late last year.
Dapper lets users make API out of content located on any website that can be used to feed widgets or publish content in RSS format. In order to enable development of such applications, Dapper extracts content out of any website and provides it to the user in XML format. Developers can take this XML based Dapps and transform the content into HTML, RSS, email alerts, Netvibes modules, Google Gadgets, output data onto Google Map,…….
There is lot more to what you can develop using Dapper than I can describe. Checkout the DapperDemo for quick peak into the dynamic webservices API world. Nevertheless I think geeky guys are already onto rolling out cool mashup tools built using Dapper.
Aside from technology, I am not sure how Dapper will handle the issues related to use of content and data residing on other websites. Also it is still not sure how Dapper will be monetizing its services, which currently appeal mostly to development community.
