Clearwire today launched its WiMax based high-speed wireless Internet service Wednesday in the Seattle, Everett, Tacoma and surrounding areas. Clearwire had raised $900 million earlier this year in a funding round lead by Intel Capital. More than two million consumers will be able to take advantage of subscription plans offered by Clearwire.
Clearwire is offering 3 service plans that include ClearValue, ClearPremium, and ClearBusiness. If you have the Clearwire modem($99), you can get the ClearValue wireless connection for $27.5/month with a downlink speed of 768 kbps and uplink speed of 256 kbps. ClearPremium delivers 1.5 Mbps downlink and 256 Kbps uplink for $33/month. ClearBusiness will cost you $60/month for similar speeds as ClearPremium and a static IP address.
