Google Talk integration with Orkut launched

By Vivek | November 8th, 2006 at 05:08 pm ET

Orkut today finally launched it’s integration with Google Talk. Quite a few users had seen the integration being rolled out to their accounts earlier, but now the feature seems to be live for everyone.

Now you have the option to automatically include all your Orkut friends to Google Talk or you can pick and choose the ones you want to add. As it seems right now, Google won’t be rolling out a Gmail like integration into Orkut. Chat session can be initiated from Orkut and you can chat either using Google Talk client or through your Gmail account or the messages can end up in your scrapbook.

Another small feature that has been introduced is that Google Talk users can send ’scraps’ to their Orkut buddies. Google Talk team is also working on sending the scraps as SMS messages. However I was not able to locate that part of integration as yet.
