Mobile media space keeps on churning out deals and news every day. Yahoo today launched the beta of its mobile advertising platform for its Mobile Web service in the United States. Graphical advertisements delivered from the new platform will start go live later this week. Last month Yahoo had started testing of keyword-based advertisements which will be displayed on mobile phones when users make search queries.
“Yahoo! has established itself as an early leader in mobile advertising and is continuing to help drive the growth of this emerging market,” said Steve Boom, senior vice president, mobile and broadband, Yahoo!. “As the only company with clear leadership in all forms of Internet advertising and a leading provider of mobile Internet services, we are uniquely able to create and deliver innovative, interactive marketing solutions to a targeted audience of engaged consumers.”
When users click on any of these interactive ads they will have option to call the advertiser as well as click-through to the site.
I think this is major achievement from Yahoo which is the #1 mobile destination. Google had also been testing out its mobile advertising platform for past few months about which I had written here. However there is no set release date announced for that service. Among other mobile advertising players, AdMod is one of the largest publishers of mobile advertising and has now served more than 300 million impressions.
