EverNote has announced public availability of it new version EverNote 1.5. EverNote had raised $6 million in Series A funding round in August. EverNote is located in Sunnyvale, CA and headed by Stepan Pachikov.

EverNote has added quite a few new features to the new version. My favorite is the ability to synchronize notes between your PC and a USB drive or between multiple PCs via USB. EverNote can also sync your notes to network drives. EverNote has a cool interface where you can drag & drop notes to select categories or between notes databases or even to your desktop. Notes can also be dragged and dropped to various IM clients including Yahoo Messenger, MSN Messenger, and Skype. You can create notes quickly from Outlook and Thunderbird by just using the “Add to EverNote” command. EverNote has support for multiple notes databases which can be opened in separate windows. EverNote has added much need security setting by providing the ability to password protected EverNote database files. From this version notes can also be exported into TXT & HTML formats.

The sync feature is available only with the EverNote Plus version costing $39.95, which I feel is a bit pricy. Also if EverNote could backup directly to WebDAV folders, like from Bingodisk, it will prove to be a good option.

EverNote is in competition with Microsoft’s OneNote. OneNote new version is due next year which provides the ability to gather and organize text, pictures, digital handwriting, audio and video recordings in once place and will be tightly integrated with other Microsoft Office products. OneNote will also have capability to search within pictures, audio and video files.
