Maxthon adds Blog editor

Maxthon, trying to get the attention of blogging community has announced release of BlogEx, a blog extension for Maxthon. Using the extension you can add posts to your Wordpress, Windows Live Spaces, and Typepad blogs. Maxthon is based out of China, and is headed by Jeff Chen. Maxthon till date has received funding from CRV, Morten Lund, and WI Harper.

Just like Performancing for Firefox, BlogEx loads a WYSIWYG editor to create and publish posts. BlogEx also allows you to view your latest posts, edit/update your latest posts, open and save “drafts”, and add categories to posts. In my experience, Maxthon BlogEx is quicker than Performancing on Firefox. However, BlogEx missed out on my favorite feature of being able to add Technorati tags to the post. Also you cannot FTP images through BlogEx. So, you have to FTP your images and than link them in the blog post.

Maxthon has also released quite a few useful extensions/plugins recently including Google Bookmarks Plugin, Technorati Plugin (similar to the Technorati Mini), co.Comments Plugin, Digg Plugin, Del.icio.us Plugin, Flickr Sidebar Plugin, Google Calendar Plugin,….

Maxthon’s main advantage over IE was its tabbed interface, which might not take it far since Microsoft has also added tab functionality into IE7. Firefox and Maxthon need to think beyond tabs and extensions in order to shake up Microsoft browser market share.
